Funeral

The funeral for Charles “CJ” Abbot will be held at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury this Sunday.

Friends will be able to visit the Civic Center from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Abbot was killed when he tried to intervene when an argument erupted between Kristin Loetz and her ex-boyfriend Ryan Shallue near the Salisbury University campus on Tuesday evening.

Shallue also wounded Loetz before apparently taking his own life.

A scholarship will be given to a Mardela Middle and High School soccer player and his family has asked that any donations in his memory should be given to First shore Federal on Mount Hermon Road.

Students  React

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that a spokeswoman at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center said that Loetz, a Salisbury University student, is in critical condition.

University President Janet Dudley-Eshbach has said she is expected to recover and walk again.

The shooting has also sparked interest in educational awareness program on relationship violence by the University’s Counseling Center.
