GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) - A funeral is being held for a Maryland man who police say died while trying to help a woman being carjacked by a man now charged with three murders.

In a statement, the Catholic Church says a funeral Mass for Malcom Winffel is being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Gaithersburg.

Winffel was fatally shot Friday in the parking lot of a Bethesda mall. Police say he was shot by 62-year-old Eulalio Tordil, who was apparently attempting to carjack a woman after fatally shooting his wife Thursday. The woman and another man were also wounded.

Tordil allegedly fatally shot another woman a short while later while apparently attempting another carjacking.
