creative commons

A candlelight vigil will be held tomorrow night in Salisbury for victims of heroin addiction.

Snow Hill Head Start teacher Selena Porcelli says it is time that the community to do something about it.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that heroin took the lives of 578 people in Maryland last year which is 25 percent higher than in 2013.

The paper reports the event’s Facebook page says around 150 people have pledged to show up for the event that will take place along the Riverwalk from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow night.

An invitation to around 2-thousand others has been sent out.

Porcelli told the Daily Times that she was “blown away because the response has been overwhelming.”
