Former city manager Dennis Dare announced yesterday that he is running for a seat on Ocean City’s Town Council telling reporters that it was time to turn divisiveness into inclusiveness.
A year ago the Council majority told Dare in effect to hand in his resignation.
At the time the council members said they were not happy with his performance and wanted to take the town in a new direction.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Dare decided a month ago that he would make the run.
The paper reports that he took credit for reorganizing town departments when the Great Recession hit and the resort came up millions of dollars short in red ink.
There are 100 fewer city employees with a budget that has come in $5 million less each year.
