Former Crisfield Police Chief Charged with Fourth Degree Burglary

The former police chief of Crisfield Norman Swift is facing charges that include fourth-degree burglary among other counts.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the incident took place at the Tawes Brothers dealership in Crisfield in which the back window of a blue GMC truck was shattered with a hole.

In addition, the trailer hitch and trailer ball were also stolen according to the charging documents.

The Daily Times reports that surveillance video from a nearby pharmacy showed a GMC truck identified as Swift’s was seen driving near the area of damaged truck

The charging documents say the damaged truck was owned by Major Archibald East who said that Swift was previously married to his current girlfriend.   

The 60-year old Swift has been released on his own recognizance.
