Fired Delaware Chief Medical Examiner Raked in $75,000 in Benefits

The former Delaware Chief Medical Examiner may have been fired and  subject to a criminal investigation but Richard Callery has been paid nearly $75-thousand in for unused vacation and sick time.

That, reports the Wilmington News Journal, is according to Delaware payroll documents.

Since his suspension in February, the paper says, he has garnered nearly $185-thousand.

State officials say that Callery did not properly supervise the state drug lab where evidence disappeared.

That sparked a sharp response from Delaware state Senator Greg Lavelle who told the paper that Callery not only should have been fired earlier but should not have been compensation so well.

The Sharpley Repbulican called it “an outrage.”
