In Fenwick Island local businesses are getting together to come up with truckloads of items that are needed by the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New Jersey and New York.

Janet Twining owner of Nantucket’s and The Lobster Shanty told the Salisbury Daily Times that the town was lucky…when the storm sped up and left behind minimal damage along the Delaware coast.

Several Ocean City hotels have donated sheets and linens while Hit the Deck owner Kebbie Crout has lent her truck.

The truck was parked outside Nantucket’s this weekend collecting items ranging from pillows and blankets to pillowcases and comforters.

One shipment has been sent to New York.

In Bethany Beach a truck full of goods was sent to New York from Mariner’s Bethel United Methodist Church.
