SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - Members of Delaware's congressional delegation are touting the use of federal funds for a drinking water project in the Smyrna area.
More than $3.7 million of stimulus funds were allotted to Smyrna in 2009 to improve the area's drinking water. The Agriculture Department has now provided two rural development loans totaling $3.4 million to enable the town to complete the project.
Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons planned to join other officials Friday to discuss the project, which is aimed at providing clean drinking water to residents and businesses north of Smyrna along the Route 13 corridor.
