Famed Skipjack Captain Art Daniels Dies at Age 95

Don Rush

The legendary Skipjack captain Art Daniels died yesterday at his home at the age of 95.

Lee Daniels told the Salisbury Daily Times that his grandfather had “a really good run.”

He was a frequent winner of the annual Skipjack Races at Deal Island.

And up until a few years ago he was active even attending the captain’s dinner for the races each year.
