ELLENDALE, Del. (AP) - Delaware environmental and public health officials are updating Ellendale residents on work to ensure safe water supplies in the area.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control and the Division of Public Health planned to hold a workshop Tuesday night at the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church in Ellendale.
The workshop will provide residents with the most recent information concerning environmental investigations in the vicinity of the church, private well sampling associated with the justification for municipal water distribution, and cancer study results in the Ellendale area.
Problems with drinking water in the area date to at least February 2009, when officials discovered that drinking water at the church was contaminated with MTBE, benzene, and dichloroethane above safe drinking water levels.
