It’s safe to drink the water at the Eastern Correctional Institution.
That’s the word from the Maryland Environmental Service officials after they discovered bacteria earlier this month.
Two water samples take on July 1st and 3rd found traces of coliform bacteria which is usually found in fecal matter.
But Chris Carrigan with the Maryland Environmental Service told the Salisbury Daily Times that the potentially deadly E. Coli form of the bacteria did not turn up.
Five additional tests were carried out on July 5th and found no contamination at four sites on the grounds of the prison.
