FEDERALSBURG, Md. (AP) - Authorities are investigating a fire that damaged an Eastern Shore poultry house.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says the blaze broke out early Monday at the poultry house on Chipmans Lane in Federalsburg. Officials say there were no birds inside the 42-foot by 400-foot structure at the time.

It took 40 firefighters about 45 minutes to control the fire. No injuries were reported.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $300,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
