REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. (AP) - Delaware officials are calling a recent DUI "Checkpoint Strikeforce" a success.

WBOC-TV reports Rehoboth Beach Police Chief Keith Banks says 11 DUIs were given during the July 15 checkpoint strikeforce, which was held in five locations. Of those DUIs, Banks says five were issued in Rehoboth.

Office of Highway Safety officials also say they believe the initiative was successful because more than 105 state and local police officers participated.

However, officials say there's still work to do to lower the number of deaths related to drinking and driving.

Another checkpoint strikeforce will be held on September 23rd.
