Delaware State University ranked 9th on the list of top Historically Black Colleges by U.S. News and World Report.
The ratings are based on the retention of students, resources for faculty, financial resources and alumni giving, among other criteria.
When the list was first published in 2008 the school ranked 22nd in the nation.
