Navy divers have recovered the body of the driver of a tractor trailer that plunged into the water off the
Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel yesterday.
The body was recovered from 26 feet of water.
Meanwhile, the tractor-trailer appears to have floated westward into the Chesapeake Bay.
The Salisbury Daily Times reports that Jeff Holland, executive director of the bridge-tunnel, says it appears that the tractor is still attached to the trailer.
Holland now says that the vehicle ran up on two bridge-tunnel maintenance trucks working a traveling lane closure before it went over the side of the bridge.
The identity of the driver has not been released.
The Daily Times reports that the bridge tunnel worker whose maintenance vehicle was hit was uninjured.
