MILLSBORO, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a school bus caught fire, but the driver and two children aboard escaped safely.

The East Millsboro Elementary School bus came to a stop on Carey's Camp Road in Millsboro early Monday morning. The operator told police that the bus stopped and then she saw smoke and flames coming from the front of the bus.

The driver and two children, an 11-year-old girl and 9-year-old boy, used the emergency exit at the rear of the bus to escape. Shortly after, the bus was engulfed in flames.

Police say they ran to a nearby home where they called 911. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
