UPDATE 5-4-12 3:30 p.m.

A Dover teenage was shot last night in the abdomen, allegedly by a 14-year-old male.

Delaware State Police officials say the incident occurred Thursday at 8:20 p.m., at a residence on Park Lane.

According to reports, 14-year-old Kameron Scott, of Dover, retrieved a handgun from a bedroom inside the residence. He then approached a 15-year-old victim in the living room and pointed the gun at him.

It is unknown what Scott's intentions were when he pointed the gun but Corporal Gary Fournier with the Delaware State Police said apart from simply being safe and responsible, Scott should have never had the gun in his hand saying the 14-year-old "is on probation for an aggravated menacing charge."

Scott did return the gun to the bedroom, but then the 14-year-old victim retrieved it from the room. Officials say Scott told the victim to place the gun in the bedroom, but he refused. Scott then grabbed the gun out of the victim’s hand, and the gun discharged a round into the victim's abdomen.

The 14-year-old victim underwent surgery at Kent General Hospital.  He is currently listed in stable condition.

Scott was taken into custody at the scene and faces 5 charges including assault in the 1st, possession of a firearm by a prohibited juvenile and aggravated menacing. He was committed  to Stevenson House in Milford on $28,000.00 secured bond.
