Dover International Speedway Slashes Seating

Dover International Speedway website

The Dover International Speedway is cutting 17,500 seats before the next race day.

Shortly after last month’s race weekend the Speedway eliminated the grandstands along turns 2 and 3.

It’s the first phase of what the Speedway is calling right-sizing the facility.

Over the years the Speedway has seen attendance drop with 85-thousand attendees in 2012.

At its height the Speedway could hold 130-thousand people.

Three years ago that capacity was reduced to 113-thousand.

Now, it will be seating 95,500 spectators.
