Dover Has a New Mayor

DOVER, Del. (AP) - A former member of the Dover City Council is the city's new mayor.

Robin Christianson won a five-way special election Tuesday to serve the final year of former Mayor Carleton Carey's term. The term ends in May.

Election officials say Christianson received more than 39 percent of the vote.

Carey stepped down as mayor in April, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family. .

The 63-year-old Christianson says he'll work hard to move the city forward.

Christianson served as a city councilman for 18 years from 1983 to 2001. He also ran for mayor in 1986 and 2004.

He'll be sworn in on June 25.
