Delmarva Power Warns Customers of Scam

Delmarva Power is warning its customers about a new scam.

Delaware State Troopers said that a man called two Delaware businesses claiming that the power would be turned off unless they paid a past due bill.

Officials said that victims were told to buy Greendot MoneyPak cards at a local store and to add the past due amount onto the card.

Later victims found out that the caller was not from Delmarva Power.

Company officials said that Delmarva Power always sends out a notice in the mail about late payments.

The power company also said that customers should ask for official photo ID from anyone who knocks on the door claiming to work for Delmarva Power.
