Delaware Voters To Decide on Whether to Keep Freshman Congressman

Delaware, 123rf.com

Representative John Carney is touting his legislative record during his first term as Delaware’s lone congressman in a Republican dominated House.

The freshman Democrat told Wilmington News Journal that this legislation included measures that created jobs cut shortages of critically important prescription drugs and helped veterans find jobs after returning home.

But Republican challenger Tom Kovach told the paper that he views Carney’s legislative achievements skeptically.

The former New Castle County president and state legislator charged that Carney was trying to take more credit than he deserves noting that the Delaware Democrat was not even a main sponsor of two bills Carney claims responsibility for.

The News Journal reports that Kovach’s criticism ignores GOP colleagues giving Carney credit for his help in passing the legislation.
