Delaware Treasurer: No Taxpayer Money for Side Trip

official photo

Delaware State Treasurers Chip Flowers says Delaware taxpayers did not pay for the excursion with his deputy to a national park in Alaska.

Flowers and his then-deputy, Erika Benner, did bill the state for extra days spent in Alaska after the National Association of State Treasurers conference in Anchorage in September of 2012.

The Delaware official says he met with bankers, financial experts and other state treasurers.

The Wilmington News Journalreports that he did not specify who was at those meetings.

During an interview on WDEL Flowers said that he and Benner paid their own expenses for a plane excursion along with 8 to 10 other people…visiting the Denali National Park for a couple of hours.

On his Facebook page Flowers also said that he visited the Denali State Park as well.
