Delaware Train Derailment Caused by Fallen Tree

Don Rush

That train derailment near Millsboro earlier this week was caused by an upended pine tree that has fallen across the tracks due to heavy rainfall.

State police say that the Northfolk Southern collision with the tree forced 15 of the freight train’s cars off the tracks spilling their cargo of stones.

No one was injured in the accident but a mile of track was destroyed.
