Delaware To Tighten LLC Transparency

Don Rush

To fend off criticism that Delaware is a haven for companies that try to hide their financial misdeeds legislation has been introduced  aimed at greater transparency.

The measure would require businesses known as limited liability companies to keep records that identify the names and addresses of its members and managers.

But critics say that it does not provide the kind of information on exactly who is benefiting from the company.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that the First State has been hit with international criticism that law enforcement has had a hard time tracking down the names of people who control and benefit from these LLC’s.
