Delaware Teachers Score High on Evaluations

creative commons

No teachers in Delaware were judged ineffective this past school year by a new state evaluation system.

And only one percent was deemed to need improvement.

That left more than 50 percent rated as more effective while the other half were rated as highly effective.

The new evaluation system has drawn some skepticism because the state announced it would include consideration of standardized test scores.

Terry Hodges, president of the state PTA, told the Wilmington News Journal that she was surprised at the results, adding she believes that a hard look needs to be taken at the evaluation system.

State leaders said they would be reviewing the Delaware Performance Approval System II for ways to improve it and will look more closely at the data.
