Delaware Tax Revenue is Down

The latest Delaware revenue projections find that tax-collection estimates dropped more than $45 million.

That’s the word from the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council on Monday.

The governor’s $3.9 billion budget had been based on a higher projection.

The decline will now force the governor and lawmakers to trim state spending or hike revenue to balance the state budget.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that this may be tricky because Delaware legislator have already come out against slashing the senior property tax credits that would save $12.6 million.

In addition, the governor’s plan to increase the deductibles and co-pay for state workers health plans has also come under fire by Democrats and Republicans.

That would save $60 million which would presumably more than balance the budget.
