Delaware Task Force Report on Marijuana Out Soon

creative commons

A legislative taskforce is expected to vote at the end of the month on whether the state should ease its laws regarding the recreational use of marijuana.

Co-chair Representative Helene Keeley told the Wilmington News Journal that she believed there should be enough votes for the recommendations to pass.

Those recommendations range from allowing local governments to enact regulations and requiring a tracking system for seed to sale to banning products resembling candy or cartoon characters and police funding and training.

Governor John Carney says he opposes legalization and instead wants to see how that develops in other states.

He also says he wants time to see how the law for medical marijuana is implemented.

A spokesman for the governor told the News Journal that they could not immediate say whether Carney would direct the task force members from state agencies on how to vote on the final report.
