WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Two months after announcing that it was suspending its 2012-2013 season, the Delaware Symphony Orchestra now plans to keep on playing.
The News Journal of Wilmington reports that starting in October, the orchestra will perform a four-concert chamber series at the Hotel du Pont. And beginning in January, it will stage at least four additional concerts.
The scaled-back season is part of a massive restructuring intended to preserve the orchestra's long-term health. The DSO has a new board chair, a smaller board and a new general manager. Longtime donor Tatiana Copeland was appointed as board chair on Monday, and Diana Milburn will serve as general manager.
In addition, music director David Amado has agreed to donate 20 percent of his salary to the symphony until its finances improve.
