Senator Tom Carper has added his name to the growing list of his colleagues calling for fellow Democrat Al Franken to step down in the wake of the sexual harassment allegations.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that the Delaware Democrat joined more than a dozen of his colleagues including at least eight senators calling for the Minnesota senator’s resignation.
The decision came after a report by Politico about a Democratic congressional aide who said Franken cornered her in her studio in 2006 and forcibly kissed her.
Franken was elected to the Senate in 2008.
The Senators said that while he was entitled to an ethics investigation they said it would be better for him to step down.
The Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez has also called for Franken to leave the senate.
