Delaware Reacts to Biden White House Decision

official photo

With the announcement that Vice President Joe Biden will not make a bid for the White House there was some sadness in Delaware – a state he represented for decades as Senator.

Governor Jack Markell issued a statement saying that he respects Biden’s decision, who he had previously said he would back against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.

The governor praised the Vice President for his dedication to the middle class and his leadership in promoting U.S. interests around the world.

Meanwhile, Richard Smith, president of the Delaware NAACP, called Biden’s decision a loss for everyone.

He told the Wilmington News Journal that he had been waiting all of his life for the Delaware Democrat to be president of the United States.

Delaware’s House speaker Pete Schwartzkopf told the paper that he was not surprised by the decision…especially with the death of his son Beau from brain cancer earlier this year.
