Delaware state workers will get a 1 percent pay hike this coming July.
The legislative committee, which is drafting the state’s 2013 fiscal budget, approved the compromise after its co-chairs had asked for a 2 percent raise on Tuesday.
The Wilmington News Journal reports the raise would cover all state workers and retirement pensions as well as public education employees including state college and university staff.
The cost will be $20.7 million.
That’s about $10 million less than the 2 percent proposal.
Over the last four months revenue projections have increased by $71 million.
But some lawmakers have expressed concern that the funding may not be sustainable
