Delaware National Guard Helps With Hurricane Relief Efforts

Air Force

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware National Guard says it'll assist with relief efforts for those affected by Tropical Storm Harvey.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports a statement from the Delaware guard says a C-130 aircraft was launched Tuesday to support evacuation efforts in Texas. Harvey first made landfall as a Category 4 storm Friday night near Corpus Christi.

Maj. Gen. Carol Timmons says the guard will continue to monitor the situation and be ready to provide support at a moment's notice.

Up to four aircraft and crews in the Gulf Region will be available for deployment if needed. The 142nd Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron is also on standby.

Delaware staff officers are headed to the National Guard Bureau Joint Operations Center near Washington, D.C. to assist in both the Intelligence and Operations sections.
