WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - The Delaware Military Academy is planning to build a new 27,000-square-foot dome on its campus.
The Wilmington News Journal reports the dome will be used to house an athletic complex and classrooms at the charter school near Newport.
The school's most recent annual report to the state Department of Education shows that it's looking to increase its student population from about 560 students to 750 students in the coming years.
Anthony Pullella, the head of the school, says the project is expected to cost about $5 million. He estimates the dome will increase the school's space by about 40 percent.
It will also give the school's sports team a place to play and practice since its campus doesn't have a gym.
The school plans to break ground July 29.
