When the Delaware General Assembly’s Joint Finance Committee meets today it will have $60 million more than expected for the 2013 fiscal budget beginning in July.
The Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council now says the state could get around $63 million more from a corporate income tax settlement.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that Finance Secretary Tom Cook says that the Markell administration will look at restoring items ranging from $16 million in funding for farmland and open space preservation programs and $20 million to the transportation trust fund to $10 million for unfunded retiree health care benefits for public employees.
The paper says that Senate Minority Leader Gary Simpson a Milford Republican said he supported most of the administration’s spending priorities including restoration of funding for open space and farmland preservation.
