officlal photo

State Senator Brian Pettyjohn will get probation for carrying a loaded handgun into the Salisbury Regional Airport.

The Delaware Republican faced a misdemeanor charge for carrying a handgun.

WBOC reports that he ultimately turned the weapon over to Wicomico Authorities.

The deal means that he will avoid conviction after his probation is finished.

The television station reports that Pettyjohn was on his way to a conference in June when the gun was discovered in his bag.

He said that he inadvertently left the gun in the bag while packing.

He possesses a concealed-carry license.
