WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Gov. Jack Markell is signing legislation that clarifies how and when authorities can confiscate firearms from and prohibit the purchase of guns by people accused or convicted of domestic violence.
The legislation to be signed Friday also expands the definition of misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to include substantive dating relationships and people who are or were cohabitating.
The bill signing is in conjunction with Markell issuing a proclamation for Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
