The Delaware Republican party has come out with a new plan to reduce poverty.
There are 11 different initiatives.
WBOC reports that one would allow an individual or group to get a tax credit for donating money to a scholarship for low income students at private schools.
But Terri Hodges, president of the Delaware Parent Teacher’s Association, told the television station that this amounted to a voucher system.
The overall plan emphasizes tax credits for such things as poverty housing, scholarships and apprenticeships.
Democratic leadership has already begun expressing its opposition with the party Chair John Daniello saying that the proposals offer little in the way of solutions.
