The expansion of the Food Bank of Delaware in Milford could be done and ready for operation by the fall.
Favorable weather has put construction ahead of schedule with a finishing date sometime in June.
Kim Turner, a spokesperson for the organization told the Salisbury Daily Times, that work on the roof was proceeding quickly.
When finished there will be a new industrial-sized kitchen for preparing hot meals for after-school programs as well as another location for the Food Bank’s culinary school program.
Currently, these are the only available at the organization’s Newark facility.
In addition, the cost of the project has come down from $2.8 to $2.6 million.
But, the non-profit still needs to raise a half a million dollars to handle the cost.
