There were 92 cases of flu in Delaware last week -- twice as many as there was the week before.
And, state officials are calling on residents to get their flu shots.
This comes on top of the flu outbreak that occurred at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Wilmington.
Karyl Rattay, director of the Division of Public health, said that this year’s vaccine is a good match for what the kind of flu cases they have been seeing.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that there had been 100 confirmed cases during the flu season as of February 13th.
These broke down to 56 in New Castle County, 24 in Kent County and 20 in Sussex County.
Rattay called the confirmed cases only the tip of the iceberg and that there could be hundreds or even thousands have come down with the flu.
