A Delaware company has won the right to build Ocean City’s newest landmark – a new water tower that will be topped with a blue and green beach ball logo.

The Chicago Bridge and Iron Constructors Incorporated from New Castle got the nod yesterday from the resort’s town council for a bid of nearly $5 million.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that going with the standard logo would have run around $10-thousand less.

Council Secretary Mary Knight told the paper that the town wanted the beach ball sign because it would be iconic.

It will be located near the Route 50 Bridge and would be one of the first landmarks motorists would see when entering the town.

Two other water towers will also be constructed with completion dates of January 2017.
