Delaware Ag Secy Denounces Video by Animal Rights Group

Mercy for Animals Video

A video released by Mercy for Animals last week allegedly showing animal abuse at a chicken farm in Sussex County has been called a “hatchet job” by Delaware top agriculture official.

Secretary Ed Kee told WBOC that he does not believe that the video reflects poultry production practices.

He said in his statement to the television station that those working the farm are “great stewards”.

Kee went on to say that poultry is raised in a humane way in the First State.

Matt Rice with the group that made the video charged in a statement to WBOC that the agriculture secretary was more interested in protecting corporate profits than animal welfare.

Meanwhile, Bill Satterfield with the trade group  Delmarva Poultry Industry Incorporated charged the video had been heavily edited and was misleading.
