Data Center Power Plant Faces New Obstacles

delawarejobsnow.org

Another legal hurdle has been placed in front of a plan to build a gas-fired power plant for a Data Center for a University of Delaware research center.

A citizens group is asking a Superior Court to overturn a Board of Adjustment decision to uphold the Newark’s rezoning approval for The Data Centers LLC.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that this came on the same day as new city-commissioned report that – one critical – called “pretty damning”.

Liberty Environmental Incorporated retained by Newark submitted a report that expressed concerns about the air quality and recommended monitoring before during and after the project is built.

Meanwhile, Newark City Council members are taking up sponsorship for a $7.5 million state economic subsidy for the facility.
