Curfew for Carvel Apartments in Laurel Extended

The curfew at the Carvel Gardens apartment complex in Laurel, Delaware has been extended by the Town Council for the entire summer.

After it was imposed police say they got 64 percent fewer complaints about crime than they did last year.

The curfew bars people who do not live in the complex between 10 pm and 6 am.

Police Chief Michael Wilson told city leaders last night that residents and nearby businesses are pleased with the result and had urged the Council to extend the curfew that was set to expire last night.

In addition, the Wilmington News Journal reports that Mayor John Shwed said the company that oversees the apartment complex is also remodeling this summer with the installation of security cameras.

No one spoke against the curfew.
