Correction to Dogfish Head CEO Story

Last week, it was  erroneously reported that Dogfish Head Founder and President Sam Calagione was stepping aside as CEO. While Dogfish Head's chief operating officer was promoted to CEO, this is a new position at Dogfish Head.  Sam Calagione's role as president and chairman of the board does not change.

Delmarva Public Radio apologizes for the error.

To clarify:

Nick Benz has been promoted to the new role of CEO at Dogfish Head Craft Brewery in Milton, Del. The role of founder and president Sam Calagione does not change.

The following is a statement From Sam Calgione

Hello all.  Thanks for all the interest and comments on Dogfish Head. There’s been some confusion - I am not stepping down or aside.  I have never been more engaged or put in more hours at Dogfish Head than I am today, and I have never been happier.  I love working side by side with Nick and Mariah and 200 passionate, talented co-workers - it¹s what makes my work life a joy.  I have never had the title of CEO - no one at Dogfish Head ever has.  Nick is expanding his role into CEO and he deserves it.  Nick will continue to report to me and I will continue to focus on what I am good at - new products, long term strategy, events, etc.  He will have more bandwidth to focus on what he is great at - which is operations, people management and implementing the many off-centered ideas and projects we embark on. Cheers, Sam
