Delmarva Power is also urging people to conserve energy with the extreme heat.

The power company recommends that air-conditioning thermostats should be set at 78 degrees…and that electric fans be used instead.

It also tells customers they should limit the use of electric heated water and to turn off non-essential appliances.

People should also minimize use of high-energy appliances like stoves, washing machines, dishwashers and dryers until the evening hours.
