Congressman John Carney says the Veterans Administration should consider getting rid of community-based outpatient clinics.
The Delaware Democrat says the clinics cannot be adequately staffed.
In addition, he said that rules should be loosened for veterans who are having troubles with non-VA treatment programs.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that the Georgetown VA Clinic has been paving serious staffing shortages.
Vets told the News Journal that the clinic only has one full-time doctor.
He is a primary physician who must handle thousands of patients.
The paper also reports that the clinic recently lost its psychiatrist.
