Coast Guard Searches for Missing Captain off Fisherman's Island

U.S. Coast Guard

The captain of a fishing vessel is believed to have fallen overboard after officials in Portsmouth, Virginia got word from two crew members.

The Salisbury Daily Times reports that the 31-foot boat was anchored just south of Fisherman’s Island and east of the Chesapeake Bay-Bridge Tunnel.

The U.S. Coast Guard is now searching for the captain who is believed to have fallen into the water sometime late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Included in the search is a 45-foot Response Boat from Cape Charles and an MH 60 Jayhawk helicopter from the Air Station in Elizabeth City, North Carolina.
