Christine O'Donnell Seeks Donations for Legal Expenses

Former Senate Candidate Christine O’Donnell is asking supporters for more than $50-thousand in an unusual weekend fundraising effort.

She says she needs the money to keep her legal fight going against a complaint filed by the group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.

A settlement from the Federal Election Commission is on the table involving allegations that the Tea Party favorite used 2009 and 2010 campaign money to illegally pay for personal expenses.

In an email to a list of supporters kept by her Christine PAC the Delaware Republican said that accepting the settlement is tempting but that it would mean admitting that she did something wrong.

The email asks donors for contributions ranging from $35 to $1-thousand.

She told the Wilmington News Journal in 2010 that she used campaign money to pay rent on her Greenville townhome which she said was also sued as her campaign headquarters.
