Chip Flowers Fends off Charge About Football Game by Former Aide

Delaware Treasurer Chip Flowers may have bowed out of his re-election bid this year but he still has been forced to confront charge by his former.

Erika Benner says that Flowers attended a New England Patriots game on the taxpayer’s dime with her and used a Boston limo service for transportation.

The Wilmington News Journal reports that Flowers has previously denied attending the game with Benner.

But during his announcement that he was withdrawing from the race on Friday, he admitted that he had been at the sporting event.

He said that Benner told him she was using her family’s season tickets for the game in October of 2011.

Flowers said he only recently learned that the ticket was charged to the taxpayer.
