There’s some confusion about just what Delaware Treasurer Chip Flowers plans are for the Democratic primary.
More than a week ago he pledged to drop out of the race because of the scandal surrounding his former aide over the use of taxpayer funds for travel expenses.
But Flowers has not yet formerly withdrawn from the race.
The Wilmington News Journal reports that has angered some state election officials who say that it has made a mockery of the September 9th primaries.
The paper reports that Flowers provided a withdrawal form with an effective date of August 28th.
But Delaware Elections Commissioner Elaine Manlove says Flowers has indicated it might be later than that.
The Flowers re-election campaign issued a text message saying that it is working with federal and local officials and would have no further comment.
